Online Therapy

I am here to collaborate with you to resolve what is causing difficulty in your current life.

With online therapy, you no longer need to deal with traffic and travel times to have safe, effective, and personal individual treatment. Part of my practice has always been online, but COVID-19 has required that I move my sessions to a virtual format. Most people who have transitioned to online therapy have commented on how the process has been easy and better than expected.

I'm currently working with clients across the State of Virginia and in Europe as well. Technology has vastly improved in recent years with excellent video and sound quality.

If you're curious about the process, contact me for a consultation so you can judge for yourself whether it might be a fit for you.

Trauma

Traumatic events often come out of the blue. As children and adults, we can experience illnesses, accidents, disasters, assault, combat, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. These events are potentially traumatic and can leave us feeling shocked, disorientated, and distressed. We may feel like our world has been turned upside down.

There are several treatment options for those experiencing psychological trauma. The key is finding a treatment that works best for you. These treatments generally involve acknowledging and processing related memories while releasing any pent up "fight or flight" responses. Learning how to regulate strong emotions is a key to overcoming anxious responses.

I’m trained and experienced in using EMDR as a treatment protocol for trauma.

Anxiety

Everyone worries or feels nervous at times because anxiety is a normal human reaction to stressful situations. But for some people, fears and worries aren’t just temporary. The uneasiness persists and can get worse over time.

Anxiety can severely impair our ability to function at school, work, or in social situations. Anxiety can also interfere in our relationships with family members and friends.

Anxiety disorders are very treatable. Most patients who suffer from anxiety are able to reduce or eliminate symptoms after several (or fewer) months of psychotherapy, and many patients notice improvement after just a few sessions.
